What Are Cosmetic Fillers?
Cosmetic fillers, also known as dermal fillers, are gel-like substances injected beneath the skin to restore lost volume, smooth lines, soften creases, or enhance facial contours.
Most fillers are made from hyaluronic acid (HA), a substance naturally found in the skin. Others may contain calcium hydroxylapatite, poly-L-lactic acid, or PMMA for longer-lasting results.
What Do Fillers Help With?
Fillers are incredibly versatile. They can:
Smooth smile lines and marionette lines
Plump lips
Restore cheek volume
Define the jawline
Fill under-eye hollows
Soften chin creases
Improve facial symmetry
Rejuvenate hands
What’s the Difference Between Fillers and Botox?
This is one of the most common questions—and it’s important!
Botox relaxes muscles to reduce dynamic wrinkles (like frown lines and crow’s feet).
Fillers add volume to treat static wrinkles, folds, or volume loss.
How Long Do Fillers Last?
The results depend on the type of filler used, the treatment area, and your individual metabolism:
Lips: 6–12 months
Cheeks & nasolabial folds: 12–18 months
Jawline & chin: Up to 2 years
Under-eyes: 6–18 months (depends on product)
Our Team can help you choose the best filler for your goals and how long you want results to last.
Do Fillers Hurt?
Most dermal fillers contain lidocaine, a mild anesthetic, to minimize discomfort. You may feel a slight pinch or pressure during injection. Numbing cream is usually applied beforehand, especially for sensitive areas like the lips.
Most clients describe the treatment as very tolerable—and worth it!
Is There Downtime After Getting Fillers?
There is little to no downtime with fillers, but you might experience:
Mild swelling or bruising
Tenderness at injection sites
Temporary redness
These side effects usually resolve within a few days. You can return to normal activities almost immediately, but it’s best to avoid strenuous workouts and alcohol for 24–48 hours.
